HOW IT WORKS
All MG HYBRID+ models feature a 1.83kW battery, with the MG3 and ZS pairing a 100kW motor, 1.5L engine, and 3-speed hybrid transmission. The HS steps it up, powered by a 146kW motor with a 1.5L turbo and 2-speed hybrid transmission. All systems are managed by the Intelligent Control Unit for peak performance and efficiency.

HOW IT DRIVES
The HYBRID+ system works by using the Intelligent Hybrid Control Unit to optimise efficiency—switching between the engine and electric motor as needed. At low speeds, it may run on the electric motor, while higher speeds engage the engine.*

IDLE CHARGE
When the vehicle is idle, the running engine charges the battery while stationary. Don’t be fooled, it’s ready to accelerate whenever you are!
EV MODE
When driving in heavy traffic or while cruising at low speeds, your MG HYBRID+ prioritises electric driving from the battery. This provides seamless electric propulsion and instant acceleration, much like a pure electric vehicle.
SERIES MODE
Whether in the city or on highways, the unique Series Mode operates all elements in smooth sequence, using the internal combustion engine to generate power for the electric motor. This delivers a more responsive and efficient drive.
PARALLEL MODE
When accelerating at high speeds, the vehicle offers quicker acceleration through the seamless integration of the electric motor and internal combustion engine—ensuring an effortless driving experience.
DIRECT PROPULSION
When accelerating on the highway, the vehicle shifts into direct propulsion mode. This optimizes its performance through the internal combustion engine with additional power delivered from the electric motor.
DRIVE CHARGE
While cruising at high speeds where acceleration is not required, the vehicle uses excess power from the engine to regenerate electricity to charge up the HYBRID+ battery.
REGEN MODE
While coasting, decelerating, or descending steep hills, the kinetic energy of the wheels can be converted back into power to recharge the battery, while also slowing the vehicle without using friction braking. Saving your brakes, and conserving energy and fuel.
